The Queensland Recreational Fishing Rules are to be complied with at all times.

Bag Limits

A maximum of 18 fish per individual may be weighed in and no more than 3 fish of any one species.

Fish Minimum Sizes

Only ‘Legal’sized fish are eligible to be weighed in.
CampingUndersized fish will not be accepted at the weigh-in station and must be returned to the water as soon as possible after capture with minimum damage.

Lake MoondarraFishing and Weigh-in Times

Fishing will commence 6pm Friday 29 of October 2010 and will cease at 12.00 noon Sunday the 31 of October 2010.
The Weigh Station will open from 6.15pm Friday 29 of October 2010.
No fish will be weighed in before 6.15pm Friday 29 of October 2010.
 
The weigh station will close at 12pm Sunday the 31 of October 2010.
No fish will be weighed in after 12pm Sunday the 31 of October 2010.

Prohibited Fishing Areas

All fishing must be confined to the areas within Lake Moondarra as determined by the organising committee. The following areas within Lake Moondarra are prohibited fishing areas.

  1. The Clear Water Lagoon.
  2. A distance of 50 metres from the Floating Pump Station.
  3. A distance of 50 metres from the Dam Wall.

Due care must be taken

The Mount Isa Water Board and the MIFSG requests due care is taken out on the water. Be aware of hazards such as tree stumps and rocky bars. There may be limited space at boat ramps and you may require patience & consideration.

Night Fishing and Boating

Boat drivers on Lake Moondarra must comply with Transport Operations (Maritime Safety) Regulation 2004 with regard to boat operation.  Night fishing is allowed for this year and all safety gear and lighting equipment is required. Competitors are reminded that the General Safety Obligation applies and due diligence must be exercised if boating at night.

Special Rules For Barramundi

We are now in the closed season. Normally, according to the regulations anglers fishing in stocked impoundments are permitted to be in possession of only one Barramundi. The DEEDIQPI&F issues a special fishing competition permit to allow competitors to have three Barramundi in possession. However, only one dead Barramundi per competitor is allowed to be weighed in with a species bag limit of no more than 3 fish. All others must be released unharmed.

Disputes Resolution

The Weigh Master, MIFSG President, Treasurer and Secretary will resolve disputes and their decision is FINAL.

Juniors

Juniors are persons 15 years of age and under.

Camping

These rules are designed for the safety and security of the competitors, sponsors and competition. Please note that the Event Organisers have the authority of the R48 Reserve Manager to manage the campsite. A “Camp Monitor” has been nominated to manage the campsite for the duration of the Fishing Classic.

The R48 Reserve is only accessible to overnight camping for the duration of the 2010 Fishing Classic

  1. Open fires are not permitted. Gas cookers acceptable; alternatively use Caterer at Blackrock site for meals.
  2. Access to camp site for the duration of the Fishing Competition will be available from 12pm Friday the 29th of October to 5pm Sunday the 31st of October. No campers will be allowed on site before 12pm Friday the 29th of October 2010.
  3. All campers must be nominated competitors. No access will be given to camp site unless proof of nomination is shown. Nominations will be available in Nomination Tent from 12pm Friday the 29th of October 2010.
  4. Camping is only permitted in designated areas, Blackrock and Kingfisher Point. Maps of designated areas will be available from Nomination Tent or advice from “Camp Monitor”
  5. Vehicles dropping off camping gear must vacate camping area in reasonable time to allow access for other campers.
  6. Any vehicle parked in camp area must be an integral part of the camp and must follow the following criteria:
    - Have sleeping amenities built in i.e. Camper vans and camper trailers.
    - Have permanent built on shade structure that is erected for entire camping duration.
    - Have specifically designed camp amenities such as generators, gas cookers, fridges, sinks, bunks and shade covers that are secured and erected for entire camping duration.
  7. Unless by prior arrangement with “Camp Monitor” or in an emergency, all vehicles in camp area are to be immobile from after their camp is set up till 12pm Sunday 31st of October.
  8. Persons under the age of 18 must be directly supervised by their parents or guardians.
  9. Walking through other campsites is not permitted, respect other campers space and equipment.
  10. Any visitors/guests of competitors must vacate camp site by 10pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.
  11. No generators to be run before 7am or after 10pm from Friday the 29th of October to Sunday the 31st of October.
  12. Playing of loud music after 10pm is not permitted.

The event organisers “Camp Monitor” will have the final decision on any camping rule and has the authority of the R48 Reserve Management to apply restrictions to the camp area. The Camp Monitor’s decision will be final, no argument or correspondence will be entered into.

Mosquito Activity

Participants are advised that precautions against mosquito bite should be taken and these should include wearing insect repellent and baggy light coloured clothes. Mosquitos usually bite at night from sunset to sunrise. Mosquito warnings relating to Murray Valley Encephalitis (MVE) are posted on signs around the Black Rock boat ramp areas. Competitors who are camping are requested to become familiar with information on these signs.
