East Leichhardt Dam
East Leichhardt Dam was also previously known as Mary Kathleen Dam. This dam was first built to supply the township of the now closed Mary Kathleen Uranium Mine.
The dam is sited 25 km east of Mount Isa and 9 km south of the Barkly Highway along a gravel road.
Fish were stocked for the first time in this dam when sooty grunter fingerlings were released on June 24th, 2000.

The MIFSG and the DPI are investigating the possibility of modifying the East Leichhardt Dam spillway to allow fish migrating from Lake Julius access to the dam. It is expected that these efforts could lead to the improvement of these two fisheries.
