Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group recently held its AGM and elected two new faces to the MIFSG Executive. Steve Jeffery is the new President and has already been busy planning fish rescues and fingerling releases in 2009. Steve’s focus as President will be the promotion of the group within the community and the planning of the 2009 Fishing Classic. Steve works for Xstrata Exploration as a GIS Adviser and has lived in Mount Isa for 4 years. Steve has been a Member of MIFSG for 4 years and is a keen fisherman who is looking forward to organising more social fishing competitions for MIFSG members.

Lyn Holmes-Kidd is the new MIFSG Treasurer and is familiarising herself with the workings of the groups accounts and the different activities that MIFSG participates in. Lyn is also an avid angler who takes every opportunity to get out on Lake Moondarra in an effort to land the big Barra. Lyn sees herself as the manager of community funds that have been gathered by the hard work of MIFSG members, the generous support of sponsors and the goodwill of the community. One of Lyn’s goals is to administer the group’s funds efficiently and effectively and allow MIFSG to maintain a balanced fishery in difficult economic times.

Both Lyn and Steve are enthusiastic about their roles in the MIFSG and look forward to continuing the good work MIFSG do in the Mount Isa community. Lyn and Steve join Sean Eales who was re-elected as Vice President and George Fortune as Secretary.
