Best Classic Ever!!

The MIFSG Fishing Classic Committee (FCC) has been pulling out all stops to make the Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic’s 10th birthday celebrations the best ever. With night fishing allowed this year there will be over 40 hours of continuous fishing that should give anglers plenty of time to land the $25,000.00 Tagged Barra and enjoy the events attractions.

The FCC has been developing the classic to a point where there is a real event atmosphere with entertainment that keeps families interested and amused while they have a break from fishing. Low water levels last year saw a drop in competitor numbers that did not allow for the site set up to be fully utilised. With the dam level expected to be around 65% and plenty of great prizes on offer the FCC is expecting a record turnout for the 2009 fishing classic. The FCC has been working since February to co-ordinate the fishing classic with a lot of volunteer hours and effort being dedicated to the event.

The fishing classic is our biggest fund raiser of the year with income being spent on developing the local fishing resources for the benefit of the community. Without doubt the main attraction will be the first fireworks Mount Isa has seen this year from 8pm Saturday night the 24th of October. With the tremendous support that MIFSG has received from our media partners and sponsors the FCC is able to draw plenty of competitors to the 2009 event and secure first class attractions that will entertain the competitors when they are having a break from fishing. The support of our sponsors is greatly appreciated, obviously without their support the fantastic family and community event cannot be staged at all.
