Fish of the month

Well here we are with our first fish of the month and what a beauty! This Blue salmon was caught by Rohan Corlis in Karumba, and weighed in just over 3kg. Over a few beers Rohan gave us some insight into his successful trip.

Q/ Rohan have you ever caught a salmon this size before?

A/ No!

Q/ I heard you had a good weekend fishing, how many species did you catch?

A/ 16 grunter, one hammer head shark, two salmon, eight catfish, one ray   and a bream.

Q/ Did you use any special techniques, lures or bait – or was I correct in hearing you found zinc a lucky talisman?

A/ No comment on that one. What happens on the water stays on the water!

Q/ So, any favourite spots?

A/ Anywhere next to the sand island worked well on the run out tide.

Q/ So you had lots of success. Any challenges?

A/ Driving with my mate who packed his kids CD case. I’m over High Five and Christmas Carols.
